NHIA Releases Infusion Industry Trends Report

Alexandria, VA (March 11, 2026) —The National Home Infusion Association (NHIA) is releasing Infusion Industry Trends, the latest assessment of the home and alternate site infusion industry’s market position. Based on claims data from a 3-year timeframe, this focused analysis shows how the industry is evolving across therapy categories and payor environments. The report also provides insight into emerging market dynamics, operations pressures, and strategic opportunities.
“Home and alternate site infusion continues to demonstrate resilience and adaptability amid the evolving demands of care delivery. With a growing pipeline of complex infused therapies and continued emphasis on value, home infusion is playing a more central role in improving access, quality, and system efficiency,” observes NHIA CEO and President Connie Sullivan. “At the same time, the report findings underscore meaningful opportunities to better align policy with the realities of modern infusion care—particularly with Medicare.”
The report groups therapies offered by providers into 5 categories (anti-infectives, home enteral nutrition, parenteral nutrition, specialty infusion, and immune globulin) to provide a broad view. It also uses data to draw out the differences in reimbursement between commercial payors and Medicare and highlights the areas in which Medicare coverage is fragmented and incomplete. Specifically, one section offers a comprehensive review of the Medicare home infusion benefit, including the complexity of coverage for the products that fall under that benefit and how the lack of comprehensive coverage results in reduced provider participation—ultimately impeding beneficiary access to care.
For NHIA members and industry participants, the report details how providers are responding to an increasingly complex health care landscape while offering a clear view of where the industry is headed. “This report is an essential tracking and strategic planning tool for every NHIA member,” says Greg LoPresti, Chair of the NHIA Board of Directors and CEO of Upstate HomeCare.
