CMS Reverses Course on Changing HCPCS Codes, Billing Units for Ig

CMS released the First Quarter, 2026 HCPCS Coding Cycle: CMS HCPCS Application Summaries and Coding Determinations, and has decided — at least temporarily — not to move forward with sweeping changes to Intravenous Immune Globulin (IVIG) HCPCS codes or units of measure.

Based on consideration of the comments we received for our first biannual public meeting of 2026, CMS will maintain the dose description for HCPCS Level II codes describing immune globulin products while we continue to consider whether a different dose description is needed for more accurate billing of administered and discarded amounts of these products.”
